Hey all!
Let me introduce you to something that may interest you.
But before I proceed, may I ask how important your career is to you?
Very important I guess. Huh?
But are you recently thinking of forging ahead from where you currently are? Are you already feeling you deserve more from your current employer, and you’re already thinking of looking elsewhere for greener pasture?
You’ve heard of how much others who are in the same career path with you are paid and being treated and you are thinking of shooting to that direction to enjoy good dividends as they are?
So why haven’t you taken any concrete step since you started nursing this ambition?
Oh, or is it that fierce competition that’s getting you scared? You have read hundreds of articles and statistics that says millions of people are jobless currently in Nigeria- so you feel your chance to secure a better pay and work environment is impossible?
Ok. I too read about that recent data released by the National Bureau of Statistics in December which shows that 115 million people are either jobless or looking for gainful employment with you across Nigeria.
Is this why you’ve given up that there’s no hope for your hopeless situation?
You’ve submitted close to 50 CVs since you were discharged from the NYSC scheme and it’s as if no one is ever reading your resume. Yet, you read testimonies of people getting jobs here and there.
You see your classmates on Facebook seated in a cushioned rotating chair in a seemingly clean environment.
They caption their pictures with stuff like ’Monday things at Office’ and you are there flipping through their photos with your rubber-band Tecno phone in a kiosk provided for you as a sales rep where you earn 35k after every 52days of work.
You know. You know you aren’t living your full expectation and you are just tired yet rejection keeps humbling you each time you submit that you weak looking CV.
You know your CV is just the fault but there’s just nothing you know about that can sparkle some light of hope on it.
As each year rolls by, you keep wondering why your B.Sc, PGD, M.Sc and PhD (even with good grades) haven’t earned you a good position with top firms in your career industry.
You are just sick and tired and ready to do anything humanly possible to get yourself outta this mess to stardom.
Well, I feel so sorry for you in this predicament. Seriously, I understand how it feels.
But let’s reason like the employer a bit.
If you were the MD of Shell or MTN and an applicant submits that your type of CV for a position consideration, would you ever think of calling such for an interview?
If 500 of your type who feel they are equally qualified should submit a cyber café fabricated CV like the one you currently saved in your Gmail draft to the MD of a multinational firm for job consideration, what capacity does your CV have to stand you out of the multitude?
Let me hint you this. Those who say you should submit your CV to a provided email for a job opening know what the heck they are looking for.
It is for it to be easy and quick for them to click the delete button once they see from the very first line of your ill-formatted CV that it’s one of those Age, Sex, State of Origin and Date of birth trash.
So would you like me to share you the surest way forward?
